Northern California’s Redding Regional Airport will down from Sept. 23 through Oct. 20 to undertake a runway rehabilitation project that has been in the works for more than two years, airport officials said. No commercial flights will operate at the airport during that period, although a smaller runway will still be available for general aviation flights. Carriers serving Redding include Alaska Airlines, with nonstop flights to Seattle, and United to San Francisco, Los Angeles and Denver. “We know this project poses a significant inconvenience to travelers, but making these repairs is essential to ensuring the airport’s continued function and success,” said Andrew Solsvig, airports manager. Officials plan to hold a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 10 in Redding City Hall to discuss the project.
