These donuts are the most disguising donuts you can shove into your mouth hole.
Buy from local places instead - they are ALWAYS better tasting, and it won't make you feel like shit later.
I saw this chain open one 4 stores down from one that's been there for 20 years. They are shitty excuse for a business.
I agree on them being unhealthy, but I have to disagree on them being disgusting (taste-wise).
They're engineered to pack as much sugar and fat into a package that feels light to the mouth and dissolves all that flavor quickly. Trying to do that is not a novel concept - take pastries, for example - but with modern technology it's more extreme and is easy to mass-produce.
So, they're a very different food from regular donuts, and they are engineered to taste too good for humans to properly handle. Food like that is why Americans eat too much food.
They are fantastic for bodybuilders when bulking if you're having trouble hitting calories because they are so light and calorie dense you can smash one after every meal easy.
Yep that mouthfeel and dissolving was determined by focus group and probably honed by fMRI. And damned if it do work. I'm kind of glad ours closed.
My friend married a Chinese woman & brought her back to America. Her diet adapted pretty quickly. But when her parents were visiting, they did in fact take them to Krispy Kreme. They were unable to keep a single bite down. To be fair, they tried to be polite, but it was just more sugar than they would normally eat in like a month. To them, it was simply inedible.
In Taiwanese the ULTIMATE comment about how good a dessert is "This isn't very sweet."
How we describe something is too sweet is "Deathly Sweet". Basically means it's inedible.
That's cool!
I looked up "Taiwanese desert" expecting to get a "404 Not Found", but it looks like texture is the thing. (A lot of chewy or flaky or crispy things, instead of sugar.)
It's sorta a skill to be able to make a dessert taste good without the need for a abundance of sugar. So we are saying the baker is skillful.
So instead of pure sugar, we value textures and a combination of flavors.
So maybe I'm just way too american, but I can get like 3 or 4 fresh ones down my gullet without really chewing. They're essentially just sugar and air so they melt in your mouth
For any of you non Americans disgusted by what I just said check out my favorite donuts (I have genuinely ordered a dozen old dirty bastards): https://www.voodoodoughnut.com/doughnuts/
How white was 4kids when they thought kids couldn't handle the idea of balls of rice? It's not even that Asian of an idea. Italians also had that.
Mmmm, arancini...
To be fair, I don't think Brock sees very well.
Weirdly enough, he does call them rice balls in some episodes.
