Discovering Reddit's Nuances on Lemmy - Anyone Else?

An ironic observation - I've been understanding Reddit better here on Lemmy than while actually on Reddit. It's fascinating how this platform, while being an alternative, can offer such deep insights about another.

Has anyone else experienced this paradox? Would love to hear your thoughts.

  • Do you have any examples?

    • Various subreddit moderators getting kicked out, the general mood on reddit, etc. It's also nice to know it's not censored on lemmy...

  • It's not really a paradox, often people from outside have a different view on things compared to if you're too deep inside.

    • I would say it goes further than different, I'd say better, as no one is "covering up" anything over here.

  • you have a lot of OG's and mods here now. most active redditors started 10 or less years ago. They often have a different view as they didn't see what came before. It was the larger group of newer folks post digg invasion that accepted spez, some of us always thought he was scum.
