It's funny how fast a tentative agreement was reached after the union refused to return to work...
- It seemed to move at light speed when Air Canada realized Canadians don't agree with corps demanding free labour from employees.
- If 107 didn't exist I bet this would've been solved closer to February.
- I kind of wish the union hadn't put out a long, polite statement, and instead just replied with "No." when told to go back to work.
- It's mentioned in the article,
  “The only power that workers have is to withdraw their labour,” [Gil McGowan] said. “If you take that away from them, the workers have no real leverage.”
  "By giving the minister the unilateral right to break strikes and send workers back to work against their will, the minister and the government are making a mockery of the collective bargaining process.”
  It's a dangerous norm if employers can just rely on the government to swoop in and block a strike with little consideration for the workers. Glad the workers took a stand in this instance and hopefully it empowers others in the future.
  
  Yea, exactly - that was my point. The moment the union demonstrated that they were not going to give up their innate right to withold their labour, suddenly Air Canada found a little more negotiating room.
Mark Carney doing pretty much exactly what you expect a finance sector ghoul to do when given an ounce of authority.
Glad the union was able to springboard off his "Oh hey its impolite to strike please go back to work now, eh?" and into a settlement with management. God bless Canadian labor solidarity. Wish we could get some of that down south.

  Yeah. Weird the focus on Carney's resume when BTW legislation has basically been #1 on every PM's and Premiere's speed dial foor 30 years now.
