Be happy when you're miserable. Wear a whacky tie while you waste your life making other people rich. Treat yourself to a nice coffee before you slave away the day to pay $2000 a month for a closet apartment.
You see, it's all about little slices of joy on the shit sandwich that is American professionalism.
You have more energy to fight the system if you find ways to take care of yourself and enjoy your existence while surviving.
There's a fine line between recognizing the injustice you're subjected to, and ruminating in that suffering such that you can't ever participate in making it better, or lets you keep going on instead of just deciding you're not cut out for being alive.
As snarky as I was being, I agree with you. No one can make you feel the way you do, but you. Thich Nhat Hahn, a Buddhist monk, has a book called "Being Peace" which addresses choosing to smile at pain. He says, "There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way." That book changed my life.
