How Transphobic and Deceptical Are The Cass Report and the Cass Review?

In a report about the U.S. military, one of the authors quotes a book by David K. Hughes called The Transphobia Trap which argues that the transatlantic slave trade is a "genocide". This is a clear attempt at dehumanizing people with a specific reference to the transatlantic slave trade. The argument is that there was a deliberate attempt to dehumanize people by the British for reasons that were neither explicitly racist nor speculative.
