Idiotarod (shopping cart race)

The races are fun competitions where sabotage, costume, and presentation, and other efforts are rewarded; some cities offer a "Best in Show" prize.[1] Sabotage, such as tripping competitors, throwing marbles or large obstacles in their paths, and the spreading of misinformation such as false route information, were common in the early years. A push for "leave no trace" actions has been promoted recently.

For a moment I thought Wikipedia incorrectly spelled Iditarod. Lol. Thanks, OP. This is why I like Lemmy.

The link in "see also" to Carts of Darkness is highly recommended. I didn't realize how old it is now, but what a fascinating subculture. Anyone from Vancouver BC (I think?) who can share if that still exists?
