Talk amongst yourselves.
Hope everyone is doing well and having a good summer!
Running Lemmy is a fun (most of the time) hobby for me, so naturally when I heard about PieFed I wanted to give that a shot, too. I've started a server at https://wetshav.ing/
PieFed is a Lemmy alternative, with additional features that aim to make it easier to moderate, and perhaps aim to make it a nicer place overall.
Decide for yourself if you'd like to try it: https://join.piefed.social/features/
You can apply for an account at https://wetshav.ing/ and I'll approve it ASAP. For now I'm limiting it to usernames that I recognize.
Hello from piefed.
One cool thing to note is that Voyager, the iOS app that I use for Lemmy, also lets me log into this piefed server. Neat!
Yes, more and more apps are adding support. Summit and Boost also have support. For iOS I just saw Mlem added support today.
Hello from PieFed too!
Unfortunately Voyager for Android isn't the same as for iOS. The Android version doesn't support sign-in via PieFed yet. I currently try an app called Blorp. I am actually on the more feature-rich Summit now! Still getting used to it, just leaving this here for other mobile users with an Android OS!
From the features listed alone, it seems like PieFed is ambitious to improve the Fediverse forum idea to a level of the old Reddit experience most of us knew. I kinda wish there was a Fediverse app that would include all of the communities and all content (except that which you block/blacklist/disable yourself) is visible. I like the concept of Matrix, where you sign up to the general service by picking a suitable server, then you can freely choose your app of choice - e.g. people on Element/Element X can still interact with those using FluffyChat. This is vastly different to the usual monopoly a messenger has over its userbase and - IMHO - a great step in the right direction for user friendly applications and processes. Since I want the Fediverse idea to succeed, I will try out PieFed. Since snooting mentioned that it's supported by Voyager, I'll try that. Thanks for your efforts!
I see it the same way. The Lemmy developers have made decisions based on their ideals, and PieFed looked at it and said "well, what if we had better ways of filtering out the bad stuff"? Some people don't think anything should be filtered out, but I disagree with them. Heck, even the Lemmy devs disagree, as they are absolutely the most heavy handed with bans on their instance. The modlog is wild and crazy.
Anyway, I've checked over the settings and this PieFed doesn't block much of anything, but there are still some nice little things that I like compared to Lemmy.
I don't see the two posts that I know that are here from Jerboa. Any idea why, and is this the same for other people?
Edit: I see it with my lemmy.ml account
Edit2: Don't see anything on the web interface either
Replying with a different account with a different language setting to see if it helps:
This is most likely because of language settings, and I have to look into it I guess. Lemmy language is such a strange thing – this Lemmy instance has had “undefined” as the only option for a long time. I changed it last night to include English as well…
Try checking your account settings and make sure English is selected. This is the default for new registrations (I think), but older registrations like us old timers have to manually enable it.

Raccoon shows 3 comments in the whole thread in the card preview but I can only see your comment here and it has a ton of "error loading comments. Try again?"-messages in the last few days. I don't know WTF is going on with Lemmy atm...
I replied to Porkbutts and maybe this will help for you too -- check the language settings under your account. English should be selected. If it's not, that might make some things not show up. I've never had a good grasp on why the language thing is the way it is with Lemmy, but hopefully that helps.
New accounts have English enabled by default, but I don't think it was retroactive to older accounts.

Visible as well
~~Everyone check your language settings and make sure "English" is selected. I think "Undetermined" should also be selected, and the only way to select both is by holding "ctrl" and selecting them. ~~
Edit: I've been helped by some pros and enabled English for all users via a database command (and somehow didn't nuke everything while doing it!)
