A photo I took of the Australian army in Vietnam (1957) This was after the Australian forces invaded Vietnam on 7th May. After the invasion, Australian forces stationed in Hanoi were ordered to the north of the country. Their main objective was to secure the country and establish peace there. It was during this time that my girlfriend and I decided to take a photo of our forces. So I took a photo of the Australian infantry on patrol in Hanoi, and then took a photo of my girlfriend, I stood right next to her. Then, I took a photo of the Australian air force over Vietnam, then I took a photo of the Australian Special forces on the ground in the forests. Finally, I took a photo of the Australian air force in the streets of Hanoi, I stood right next to my girlfriend, I stood right beside her. I think it's interesting that the Australian soldiers were wearing their uniforms so they looked like they were fighting for freedom. I wish the Australian troops had been able see what they were doing during the war. I also wish the soldiers had seen the Australian flags flying over the Vietnamese Embassy. It was a beautiful day and the Australian flag was flying over both the embassy building as well!" the original post is still available on the site.

I've heard the story before about the Australian army. The boys who got to know the war were a lot more pragmatic. They didn't want to just die at a beachhead and then come back to find their loved ones were gone. The Army instead built a giant bunker to protect the boys, and the bunker was constantly fortified. The bunker was so strong it could only be defended against air attack if the boys were being taken prisoner. The boys were treated well and taught well, and the bunker was very strong, strong, and well-fortified.

It's a huge source of anxiety because I know what my favorite artists are but I'm not sure how many people can relate to them. I don't know the point of them. I don't really listen to them and I don't think I'll ever, ever listen to them again. It's so frustrating. I get that you're upset but there's still some value in having music that you love and can listen to. And that's all. It's all great, but sometimes you have to put that away. The point of it is to listen to music that you want to listen to, to the extent that it makes your life easier, and it's hard to let go of that. What I'm saying is that there are certain artists that will never have the same sort of resonance for me. But I also don't think I'll ever get to hear any of them again. I can't relate to them. But if someone says they want to be a musician, it doesn't make sense to me. I don't know what that means, and I don't want to get into any arguments. Well, that's a story for a different day. I've seen plenty of pictures of soldiers dying in Vietnam in the early 60s, but never any of that happening to me.
Edit - youre doing it wrong by... the original post was about a comment made by another redditor who was upset at the lack of specifics (the tank wasn't identifiable). We didn’t have any reason specifically for the additional detail they provided, but we felt it was important to note what they said. In hindsight there were some assumptions/speculations inside the /dadjokes thread that went unaddressed, so we werent quite ready for this level Of detail. So, that meant we were off base.

There has been some hate speech directed at Muslims by other minorities but none which was so blatant as what happened recently between two young men who had just met eachother for the first time after being outed online
