The notion of banning books is incredulous. What is the point, preventing people from getting "wrong ideas"? Is the public incapable of thinking for themselves?

TBH, kinda yes. I'm not a big fan of the idea that every and any kind of speech has to be allowed, and books aren't necessarily a fundamentally different category from twitter posts.
I'm not into free speech absolutism. You can write a lot o nasty lies and hateful things in books, and sometimes the authors are actually good at making them believable.
Those aren't the books they're banning.
Adolf Hitler's book is most certainly banned in my country.
Either way, the current censors being bad doesn't mean that censorship itself is bad.
