I'm asking this as a somewhat ignorant atheist from across the pond who is the product of the very broken education system that the poster describes, but aren't the rates of religiosity in the UK a tiny fraction of ours?
I'm not clear on what you mean. The UK is a pretty religious country (in terms of culture, e.g. the protestant "ethos" is omnipresent). Its root are very much felt in its politics too. In school, it's not shoved down the throats of kids (unless you go to a religious school but in that case, it's more understandable as those are a choice).
Is that more or less what you're asking about?
