I think it will become trillions, and have far worse effects than just mere money. Those cut services and removed employees, were mechanisms and lubricant for effective, timely government. They are now gone, and the machine will eventually break from the stress. This damage is slow, inevitable, and irreversible.
The point was never to increase efficiency, it was to give musk access to confidential data.
- And shut down loads of social federal programs along with literally anyone that could get in the way of his "businesses".
That was the real plan all along, wasn’t it?

Anyone who thought "doge" was a good or even acceptable idea should not be allowed to participate in politics. Or play with small objects that may be a choking hazard.

  I think this is one of the core problems of humanity. People are driven mostly by feelings. I guess that works mostly okay on smaller scales or simpler worlds. Feeling like this field is better for grazing than that one is probably pretty harmless, and if your little 2000bce tribe dies out it's not a global problem. But now we have very complex systems that affect millions of people, and idiots are still going "Well i just feel like shaking things up would be good"

What was infuriating was to hear a few so-called "independents", Enlightened Centrists, and Democrats saying, as this was happening, things like "well, we really do need someone to do something about waste, fraud and abuse, but I'm not sure these guys are doing it right".
Why the fuck do people even accept the goddamn framing of the extremist right wing? What evidence is there of extreme amounts of any of that repeated babble phrase (repeat after me, children!) "waste, fraud and abuse", most especially in the departments that were under attack from these partisan hacks with zero experience and zero expertise? I mean, JFC, some of the dipshits in there weren't even old enough to rent a fucking car. What the fuck do they know about anything? And you are handing kids the keys to the place with no oversight, no vetting and no legal right to be there?
So to accept the bullshit framing and then to proceed from that false premise to only say: "gee whiz, I don't think these kids just out of diapers might know what they are even doing?" in such a tone was just so exasperating.
Someone should impose some consequences. Perhaps? Maybe? No? Then I guess it was an okay thing to do. Based on how consequences work.

- Imagine if one day there was an investigation into everything that was done and the instigators were prosecuted.
