I've been predicting this for a couple of years now.
It goes hand-in-hand with prison privatization and the increased corporate use of prison slave labor. The goal is essentially to bring back Victorian workhouses while collecting kickbacks.

So something I have been wondering about is related to what they surmise here:
"Hell yeah, we’re bringing back involuntary commitment! (Maybe the draft will be next!)"
So at the start of this administration there was this massive increase in military ads that many people here may not see if they do not see ads. It was crazy how often it was with me seeing it more on platforms that draw younger folk (crunchyroll and CW). Then it stopped. I think because it simply was not working. This makes me wonder very much if some step along the way is to bring back the draft for those without bone spurs.

This is all directly out of the Nazi playbook in the 30s. They didn't start out gassing Jews. They started locking up the mentally ill, disabled people, political opponents, "undesirables" like the LGBTQ community, outsiders like the Roma.
Murdering people was their final solution for what to do with all those prisoners. They started with concentration camps like the one they built in Florida.
They would never need the enormous ICE budget if they were only coming for illegal immigrants (and now homeless people).
Americans HAVE to get off their asses and stop this. Trump and his goons WILL expand the groups they're going after. This WILL get worse. Stop it now.
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it, that's why everybody needs to start fucking listening to what the historians are telling you all.

Wow. Thanks. This is something I have been very curious about. Even before trump I often wondered how it happened in germany and unfortunately Im getting a first hand view. There has always been the like hitler thing and people looking at it as an exaggerated example but its amazing how if anything he makes nazi germany look better:
Like the Trump regime, the Dachau concentration camp was established in the first months of Nazi rule. But unlike Trump, the Nazis were careful to downplay the barbaric cruelty of the newly-built camp. They presented propaganda photos to show “the truth about Dachau” as if it were a “model” prison for rehabilitation.
Trump’s supporters on the other hand are gloating over the fact that this is no normal prison. It is a series of cages in the swamps of the Florida Everglades. And MAGA is celebrating a camp built for the express purpose of dehumanizing and brutalizing the people brought there.
