I would much rather have seen a TAS-style animated SNW episode than puppets.
- Yeah, I'm inclined to agree. I'm not against puppets, but a TAS-style adventure would have been fun.
  
  If they had gone with my plan of 24 seasons of 24 episodes each then there would have been plenty of room for both!
  It's an objectively better plan I don't understand why they didn't listen to me
  
  I wanted both.
  But with a truncated 5th season and the very long lead time required for animation, I can see why the animated version ended up being dropped.

I'm sad about the TAS episode not being a thing, I'm sad about the puppets being muppets instead of practical creatures, but also, this episode just seems like fun.
It almost reminds me of the Christmas episode of Eureka that was really fun, but may have single-handedly brought the series overbudget. That show was fun, with some flaws:
Some of the worst autism representation I have seen on television.
It could never decide if it was a comedy or a drama, although that wishy-washiness sometimes worked in its favor, such as when they decided to stir up the plot by creating an alternate timeline... twice.

  I agree. It feels to me that Start Trek has not leveraged creature shop puppet special effects much, over the years. More frequent practical puppet effects would be a welcome addition.
Whoever is making all of it these puppets needs to be given a salary to go away.
