Gasly and Albon both looked better when they weren't competing with Max. Even in 2016 to 2019 you could see Ricciardo slowly losing his edge.
It just seems some drivers are so good they make their teammates look worse than they are.
Albon has definitely improved since his RB stint though. He seems to squeeze the most out of the Williams.
