The Forest Never Sleeps

From Raymond G. Miñoso

Soaked and steadfast. A wet-looking Luzon Boobook (Ninox philippensis), also known as the Philippine Hawk-Owl, perched quietly on a stormy night in Aningalan, San Remigio, Antique. Photographed during the onslaught of Typhoon "Crising"-proof that even in the harshest weather, the forest never sleeps... And the birders bird too. - at Banglid Dos in Aningalan.

  • Never before have I seen an owl with eyes and beak of quite such a brilliant yellow.

It looks as though it's discovered some new psychoactive substance on which humans have not yet got their hands.

    • I think we have some color tweaking to thank. The pics at eBird still show the eyes especially yellow in some shots, but the beak and eyes in this one feel a bit accentuated.
