Wonderful Gran Prix shave with this restored Wade & Butcher provided by Robert (Noname Bear on YouTube). This one has a Zulu Grey edge that I enjoyed very much.

    • Razor: Ever-Ready 1912 SE
    • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE
    • Lather: Abbate Y La Mantia - Blu Tobacco

    • Passes & Info: 1 pass, head and around the goatee; head mostly ATG, face mostly WTG. Good shave.

A quick shave before bed. I've treated 3 of my DE razors with spray coating this weekend, so one of the SEs was the best option.

And it's honestly such a great option if I am in a hurry. Sure, it doesn't come very close in just a single pass, but no irritation nor bleeding despite going really fast with it isn't even possible with a cartridge for me!

Why do I constantly switch between beard styles? I honestly think there's some underlying issues there, but currently I went back due to gray hairs on the side at just 31 (thanks genetic shit lottery) and a patch that despite multiple treatments won't grow. I actually plan to return to just a moustache with a soul patch, but atm I am plagued by very uneven growth patterns in my facial hair. As long as I haven't figured out how to fix this, short circle beard/goatee it is.

I rubbed the Koraat on my 10k today, gave it some stropping, and went to town. I didn't do a whole lot of packing peanut testing, but the little bit I did seemed like a "pass". The heel did need slightly more attention than the rest of the razor. I used electrical tape so I didn't have to set a new bezel. The shave was certainly an improvement, especially considering how little work I put into it.

I do plan on sending this to @gcgallant@sub.wetshaving.social eventually and half of me wanted to see a before/after from "factory" edge to whatever he decides to put on it. The other half of me wondered what I could accomplish myself with the current angles, and I was able to satisfy that curiosity.

I finished off this tiny sample of Madame Chouteau that @shavinginct sent to me a long time ago. I got an email that the 2025 version is now available. It's such an interesting scent, but it's just barely outside of my wheelhouse so I won't be grabbing it.

    • The factory edge is great in my experience. Ulrik knows what he’s doing when it comes to sharpening. That was a good choice using tape. Ulrik uses a guard on the spine to protect its finish when he sharpens.

Unless asked to do otherwise, I don’t use tape on his razors. They shave magnificently with the narrower bevel angle that is created by laying the spine directly on the stone.
