Finally Watched Wheel of Time S3

I know, it's not the books. Not even close, but someone finally made a series. It was painful at times, but it grew on me. And now... it's done. Worse still, I've learned it was cancelled.

I feel so sad. I wanted to see where it went. But alas, another show cancelled.

Well... I've been wanting to re-read the 15 books. Maybe now is the time.

What about you all? Did you feel the love-hate as well? Are you sad? Indifferent?

I did not really love the show but I do have to tip my hat to Rosemund Pike. She really leaned into the series and gave her all. She clearly took it serious.
- Yeah, I agree, she WAS Moiraine.
- She was absolutely incredible. Truly.
I haven't watched the third season. I watched the previous two, so I was considering it (this show was never a priority for me), but I am very thankful that you made this post because now that I know it has been cancelled I won't waste my time on it.
- J have never really understood this sentiment. Everything gets canceled eventually.

  This isn't even remotely close to being true. There are plenty of series that complete their planned runs and have the time to tell an entire story.
- Yikes. If I didn't watch a show because it was canceled, I wouldn't be watching much of anything these days... ugh.
  I was going to watch Resident Alien season 4 next and found out today that it was canceled also. Still going to watch it though. Alan Tudyk is a gem.
  Just a personality thing I guess. I like to see things through to the end. And... for all its warts... season 3 loosed a number of wonderful gems. Even if it all ended here.

  That's my issue - I don't get to see things through to the end because they literally do not have an ending.
I wasn't a huge fan of the way they bastardized the source material. I grew up reading that series and despite its flaws, it holds a special place for me. I had been hoping for a good adaptation of it, whether it be TV, movie series, or video game(s). I didn't have super high hopes for the show, but I was really hoping they would be more faithful to the source.
It wasn't all bad. They did manage to hit most of the major plot points. I will say that I was supremely disappointed with the scene where Rand encounters Turak in S2. That's always been one of my favorite parts of the early books, and they just tossed it in the trash.
Anyway, this comment has gone on far longer than I planned. So while I'm a bit sad that the series is canceled, at least RJ can stop spinning in his grave over what they did to his baby.
- They certainly did transform a lot about the book series. Expected for any TV adaptation, but sometimes pretty awful in this case. I would have seen it through regardless though. I guess I've been that hungry for it. Perhaps within the next couple of decades someone will try again and do a better job. 💜
- I was also disappointed with the whole Turak part, but making Uno bound to the Horn of Valere was a nice addition.
I watched the first season and liked it, so I read all of the books and almost immediately hated the show. I watched season 2. It was... ok. I guess. They changed too many things, and not for the better, and I will not be watching season 3.
- Of course they changed things. It's 15 books. Too much source material. It would be impossible to televise the whole story.
  With that said though, I'd agree that some of the changes weren't warranted. They could have condensed and retold things without some of the oddities they introduced. For instance, Perrin having a wife and killing her the way that he did really bugged. Plenty of things I didn't like.
  Fans have been wanting to see something on the screen for decades and this was the best attempt yet. I would have loved to see it through, warts and all.
For me, I knew the series was a waste of time when they didn't start with "There are neither beginnings or endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning."
