Pedantry aside, they did indeed do the maths, though :)
- The community title must have influenced me haha
  As I'm from Australia and also say maths
- I love you
Most things don't scale linearly with size.
- Given how the snail moves I feel like it's an accurate assumption since each pull is x% longer
  
  I think friction and mass will affect those pulls non-linearly, probably to the point of the snail not able to even move. See, now you've made me go and ruin the whole cartoon premise!
