I had to read the headline a few times, before realizing they want to do what my brain refused to read.
That area looks like a hellscape:
Jesus. It is only safe to cross a single 3m lane at a time and this is 6 lanes wide!!!!
The risk grows exponentially so instead of being 6x as dangerous, it is closer to 64x more dangerousThere should be no place even close to residential areas that have more than 1 or 2 lanes for cars. Anything more is a highway, and those should be only to connect cities, not to go shopping.
The way cities are built, we overuse "arterial roads" and put them everywhere. Such terrible design, which is why people get killed far too often.
I do not want to be near that hellscape when the sun is out.
