Hey, I’ll be blunt: if kids can’t get an education without running a risk of getting shot, I think it’s entirely fair for legislators to be subjected to the same dynamic. Because it is an abject policy failure that politicians are considered so much more valuable to society than schoolkids.
Anyways: I’m a rather staunch opponent of fascism, so if you’re trying to insinuate that I’m rooting for that chucklefuck assassin, you’re way off base. I’m simply expressing the idea that the “intractable” political problem of gun ownership and reasonable regulation thereof would be solved fucking immediately if we forbade armed security details for legislators at any level.
Edit: oh yes, .world is a bit more… touchy about spicy posts, fair point.
Wait, are you saying that action was taken to prevent shooters from entering legislative buildings to attack politicians? Oh boy, I bet that means that the same or similar action has been taken to prevent shooters from entering schools to attack children.
No? Well whose job would that be? Those politicians, huh?
Well then I guess this is gonna be as normalized as school shootings until they do something to meaningfully reform gun control.
