The US is just the saddest joke of a country.

Part of it, and I know it might be upsetting, is that "domestic terrorism" as a charge gets the feds involved. The president can pardon federal crimes but not state crimes. So if he gets a bunch of state crimes he cannot be pardoned by the president and has to serve the terms.
