FYI in ww2 Nazis considered people in wheelchairs due to disease as a genetic defect and would "remove you from society".
They considered all minorities as a genetic defect. They even took your asshole mesurements as a criteria (as everyone needs to hate others to feel superior). People haven't changed, only the political landscape briefly took a turn for the better (temporarily of course).

We have the mechanisms still in place for it. All men (18-30?35?) are forced to sign up under the selective service act. They usually do it when you get an ID, you just sign an extra piece of paper when you get your license or ID card as a teen... And then hopefully nothing happens with it
But make no mistake, it is in place, and there are people constantly advocating we use it
