Hey dad, I just want to hear "I'm proud of you and what you have achieved" from you

I'm not your dad, but I'm proud of you. Not for the A-levels, not for the Bachelor's, but for the effort and work you put in to achieve those milestones. Getting through school is hard. It's like having a job with several bosses all wanting to be your first priority, each one with different requirements for how they want the work done. That takes a lot of patience, a lot of time management, a lot of sacrifice, and as above, a lot of work.

The diplomas and degrees represent those things. I'm proud of you. You're going to have plenty more opportunies to be patient, manage time, sacrifice, and work - and not all of them are going to have concrete rewards as evidence. Be proud of yourself; there's no shame in that.

58 year old farther of two and step-father to anther. Way to go on your A-levels. Congratulations! Well done! And your bachelor's? That's awesome! I'm so very proud of you.

I'm proud of you and what you have achieved. Life is tough, so your hard work is amazing. Getting my A-levels years ago sets a step above. Getting your Bachelor's is one of those ultimate achievements in life. I can’t wait to hear about all your future adventures.

61 year old father of three sons and one daughter. My father didn't say he was proud of me either. Fathers showing approval of their sons in movies or TV will turn me into a blubbering mess.

All that said to say this. I 100% relate and I am 100% proud of you for understanding your own pain.

congrats. I have only completed a bachelors and it was hard. I literally spent blood and tears (and tons of sweat). And my guess is that you had to go through something similar (maybe not the blood part, i hope not the blood part). That shows that you have are committed and dedicated. Sorry I could not be with you for your convocation, and I do not deserve to be forgiven. I only wish you success and happiness in your life. What I have learnt in my life is - hard work pays off. I am not relegious, and will not go in to "god works in mysterious ways" kinda shit, but what i have learned is that if you make honest efforts, you can achieve stuff. If you failed, then do not be upset about it. It is natural to be upset, but to try again and succeed is even more satisfying. Best of luck for rest of your life. I'm proud of you and what you have achieved.3

I am proud of your persistence in front of difficulties and challenges. I am proud of your achievements.

I am proud of you even if I haven’t told you before, I am proud even if I belittled you, even if I fucked up.

My behaviour and response to your efforts has nothing to do with you. Not a justification but it is about with my (generational) trauma and lack of seeing my own achievements. I would apologise for all the pain I caused to you if only my trauma allowed me to see, feel and realise all the pain I caused.

I think that, above all, I am proud that you are not repeating my own journey and you are a much better person than me.

I was proud of you when you had your first day of school

I was proud that you stuck with education when I knew you were smart enough to succeed without a teacher telling you what to learn. Sorry that I wasn't that great at expressing that. I am still working on that.

And yeah, I probably should have spent more time telling you that. I guess I still have a good bit more to learn about being a good father but don't for a minute mistake that failing of mine as that you are not the son that I am proud of.

I am proud most of all that you are a good and decent person and not just for the first time.
