What are your plans for the week-end?

  • A whole lot of nothin' cause last weekend was busy. Kicking off with dinner tonight at my one of my favorite restaurants. Probably brunch tomorrow, judging from the restaurant my partner sent me. Reading at the local rose garden on Sunday.

  • Hmmmm

Well, I've got plans to do some role play via discord, which should be fun.

However, as silly as it seems, I'm looking forward to the weekly pets thread here lol. My chickens have been in rare form, so I'll have fun telling a story about it.

Probably going to play some games with my wife tonight, which is kinda the weekend

  • My weekends are usually exceptionally boring, not by choice mind you (well, I guess it's my choice to do nothing about it, though), and this one's gonna be no different.

I'll just hang out, listen to music and watch stuff.

  • Sorry for hijacking your previous thread @LadyButterfly@lazysoci.al

  • Just straight up going to cut and paste my reply from the lemm.ee thread:

About to start a new run of Stardew Valley for the first time in a couple of years. Got all my mods and shit set up for now and I'm good to go. Now I just need the right moment to start. If I go missing for a long period of time, I'll be in Pelican Town breaking hearts.

Side note: I notice that from here on Lemmy, upvotes seem to be showing up for comments here but every actual post is sitting on 0 upvotes. Hope that changes / federates properly soon. Or is that a Piefed thing, starting on 0? I notice that my one upvote seems to be sticking.

Edit: actually not much is showing compared to viewing this in another instance that I'm not logged into. So I guess federation is just being weird.

    • Good to see you here!

Edit: actually not much is showing compared to viewing this in another instance that I'm not logged into. So I guess federation is just being weird.

Your instance will federate posts since the first person of that instance subscribed.

The past posts won't be able to get backfilled (that's a Lemmy limitation), you can still see an archive of them at https://crazypeople.online/c/casualconversation@lemm.ee

On the other hand, https://piefed.social/c/casualconversation has all the posts

      • Thanks and always good to see you around too!

Yeah I'm getting the idea of how federation works exactly now. It's taken a couple of instance jumps and a little time though lol. And the votes and stuff for what I can see seemed to come back to normal shortly after posting and there's nothing on 0 upvotes anymore.

  • I'm very excited about this weekend.

Some new friends I made recently invited me to a craft night at their house with a few other people on Saturday. This may seem mundane, but I haven't actually went and hung out with a group of people since before the pandemic. I lost a lot of my good friends and connections in ~2020, none of us were particularly good at long-distance friendship, plus in the 5 years since, I've had multiple dysfunctional relationships that have kept me out of the "real world". Since I'm newly single again and have no intention of dating anyone anytime soon, I'm working to get back in touch with some friends I haven't talked to in a long time, make new friends, and get back out there and work on my social life. This simple craft night is really my big first step, and it means way more to me than these friends might ever know. I'm sure it will be great fun, but I'm still a little nervous!

On Sunday, I'm going to a picnic! Another activity I haven't participated in in many years. A political action group I joined has a really tight-knit core group of 6-8 of us that I've become really good friends with, and this is our first "extra-curricular" activity outside the scheduled events and weekly meetings. I'm very excited for this, too, for almost the exact reasons as above. I have no idea what food I am going to bring... Maybe I'll throw together a fruit bowl, that'd be nice and refreshing.

  • Got a training workshop most of the day Saturday, but Saturday night is bad movie night (we’re watching Ben and Arthur), and then I’m doing jack shit on Sunday and sleeping in

  • Weekend away and then possibly a tad of tidying so my mind can be clear (I say this, both are unlikely).

To the poster who was making a new Stardew valley good luck on the new fun!

  • Working a bit and then playing My Time at Portia.

  • Dinner with a retired colleague/mentor. Prior to his retirement, he was really nervous about mental sharpness and health degrading without work. He put a lot into work and not much into hobbies until really late in the game.

He really has slowed notably, so it will be a bittersweet meeting and reiterates to me the importance of a robust life with interests and relationships outside of work.

  • Work some overtime. Then depending how I'm feeling and how bad the wildfire smoke is, maybe get out to the woods and do a little foraging. I want to make some garlic mustard chimichurri. The plant is invasive, so I'm doing my part.

  • This weekend already started mere in Korea because of the Memorial day on Friday. And we already did the two big things planned for this weekend:

    1. Our two years old is really into crocodiles, so we went to the big Seoul Zoo to visit the crocodiles. They had one sweet water crocodile and two sea water crocodiles. Most of the time we spent with the crocodiles, but later we also watched a Elephant family first take a bath in their pool and later a dirt shower. That was really cool but obviously not as cool as the crocodiles. Here is a link to the Korean crocodile song we listen to on repeat for month already, it's quite good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSlkWNAYSck
    2. My wive got a voucher to an expensive restaurant which has a buffé from her sister. Today we got finally a table - it's ver often fulle booked - and had dinner there. It was good but as always with buffé's you eat too much.
  • Mother's cat comes to Chez Rebekah (what my mother calls our home when the cat comes here) and I medicate the cat and take care of her.

This is an 18~ year old cat who is now actively going deaf. And doing poorly.

I love the cat but it's anxiety inducing. Me and mother's cat both wish she'd just stay home more.

That's my entire weekend planned. Doting on a cat that's medicated every 12 hours.

  • This Saturday will be time for my son and I to hang out and eat homemade tacos. Super excited for that. I’ve got all of the ingredients that I could think of. We’ll have those while we watch TV shows and/or movies, and just generally goof around. ☺️

On Sunday, I’m going to hang out with this nice man for the second time. Idk what he is looking for, and will ask him when I see him. I really long for someone I can call my boyfriend. Will it be him? Probably not, but it’s nice to think of. He seems really nice, has his life put together well and is able to have an intelligent conversation. Really checks all of my boxes. He’s also 12 years my senior, which I am into as well. 🙃

  • I count Saturdays and Sundays as weekends. It seems like tomorrow I will be in the company of my father, helping him do business at some classic old town, selling preloved clothes at Tamu Market. It will be amazing because there are so many foods and drinks there.
