2 passes. Face lather. Good shave.
Hiatus has the scent of a Piña Colada mellowed slightly by some vanilla. It is, by far, the sweetest scent that I own, and perfect for a beautiful, relaxed Sunday.
This was a test shave of a new edge on this razor. The shave was very comfortable but I am still aware of thickness at the edge, so I will look into thinning it a little.
June 1st, 2025: Smooooth
This is my 27th straight razor shave. The edge had a little bit of resistance to it, but nowhere near being tuggy. I've mentioned before that this type of feel gives me great shaves with a little bit of work, and today backed up that theory.
I do plan on participating in the Lather Games, but I'm not sure if I'll meet 50% participation. May was the busiest month I've had in recent memory, and I have no clue what June has in store for me.
Since I started tracking my shaves with the Shaving Data System I've used straight razors 54% of the time, DE's 30%, and cartridges 16%. I started tracking right around the same time I started using straight razors, so all of my straight razors shaves are accounted for in those stats.
June 1st, 2025: Sweet, Sweet Lather Games
Daily Theme Justification: "Saturday Morning: A sweet, sugary recreation of our favorite Saturday Morning breakfast that will bring back memories of better times watching cartoons." - Catie's Bubbles ad copy
Daily Theme: I am not a massive fan of gourmands since this is obviously not my favorite theme of the Games. However, I like CBubs soap and this is mildly scented enough to where it is not overwhelming. I chose Tonsorial Parlour for the splash because it smells more like Froot Loops to me than Saturday Morning does.
Daily Challenge: Look, I'm not gonna glaze our 2x and current LG champion with words too much. However, he may find this SOTD flattering since 4 of my 12 brushes were made by u/Priusaurus. I used all four of the brushes with the big ass sample of Saturday Morning that u/brokenjaw622 graciously provided me with some months ago. Prius is a pretty cool dude I guess, I like his brushes.

I found a Bismarck for a price that seemed very fair to me, and I went for it. I tested the edge it came with, and it sliced the packing peanut without any issues. So I went for it as is. First impressions: very nice razor, good edge, very maneuverable. Looking forward to another shave with it.
Have a good day!

-> single pass head and face shave. Alright, I won't even pretend this was some kind of luxury. It was a cartridge shave for the sake of saving time and not cutting myself with my shaky hands.
King of Bourbon was amazing though. As always. Somehow this slightly sweet and definitely bold scent manages to take my mind away from worrying. Also, WK Siero is so good to shave with.
As for the cartridge? Couldn't care less. It's one of those extra flexible cartridge razors, apparently for people with no wrist mobility or extreme tremors. It worked well, no questions. But I seriously don't care about cartridges anymore. Mostly due to the lubra-strip, this hellish invention of either a strip of lubricating chemicals or like this one, those lubricants housed in some silicone contraption. I like that you can flat out remove in on their 5-blade carts, since that stuff is simply useless with a good slick soap like WK. Sadly that isn't possible with the Hydro 3, which are better for my skin since less blades. Cartridges also suck for any kind of beard contouring, which oddly was what originally got me into traditional wetshaving tools around 2020. You simply can't achieve straight lines with them.
This was the last shave before my written exams start tomorrow. I am very well prepared, but still got some nerves. Well, at least I can look forward to some nice safety razor shaves once it's done. Let's rock this and get shit done! 😎
Good luck with your finals!
Thank you very much!
Good luck! You've got this!
Thanks! I'll do my best!

This shave took me to a nice restaurant at the end of an evening out. A good cup of coffee with a splash of whiskey. A nice, spiced banana cake for dessert, with cinnamon, vanilla, and a hint of pipe tobacco rounding out the night.
I don't normally gravitate toward gourmand scents, but this combination was a winner for sure.
I used this RDC handle in tribute to u/priusaurus. Hey may come across as arrogant when he's competing, but deep down he's a kind and welcoming guy. It's been awesome watching him develop his skills as a brushmaker. Unfortunately, though he was the two-time LG champion, he cannot call himself the World's Strongest Shaver. Maybe next year ,bud.
$SHD justification: Milton calls out on his Etsy page that this is the highest density boar knot he was able to find.

Did a lime themed shave today to kick things off and stay on the daily theme. Got this smush of CRSW from a bud because I had never tried their soaps before. Wasn't spectacularly slick but my face feels good.
No tribute for u/priusaurus because I do not worship false idols.

Sweet, Sweet Lather Games...: Day 1 of Lather Games
Theme justification: "A sweet, sugary recreation of our favorite Saturday Morning breakfast", it's like the soap was specifically made for this theme. The post and frag are all on theme, too.
Here we go again! I'm impatient to read what shenanigans will be cooked up for this 11th edition of the Lather Games!
Today's theme is a nod to our perennial lather games champion, u/priusaurus. Long-time participants won't be surprised to see his favourite scent category as theme and the challenge honouring him as last year's champion. The good news for these same long-time participants is that this year, they have a shot at the top spot, now that priusaurus has switched to the djudicial corps.
