There was a reason for President Donald Trump’s particularly caustic response when a reporter asked him Wednesday about a new term coined about the president’s tariffs: TACO, or Trump Always Chickens Out.
He had not yet heard the term, according to a senior White House official who acknowledged to CNN that the president was caught off guard. Trump had said as much at the time, saying “I’ve never heard that” before calling it the “nastiest question.”
“He thought the reporter was calling him a chicken,” the official said, adding that Trump was “reasonably” frustrated with the phrase.
The acronym was coined in early May by a Financial Times columnist and is now used as shorthand by some on Wall Street to indicate that traders shouldn’t fret too much about Trump’s tariff threats, since he usually backs down.
Our fucking president throws a hissy every "though" question, wait "nasty" question. Starts to insult the reporter and dodges the question in the end. Or just giving a nonsensical answer.
Relies on catchphrases on his socials for support.
As someone who was practically raised on tacos, the way he eats tacos is… Annoying. It’s basically the way northern Americans eat what they call Tex-mex, which typically results in a huge mess. Tipping the taco in one direction or the other results in it spilling, so you’re supposed to tip your head instead. It means your elbow is usually sticking out more, with your arm basically parallel to the floor. Whereas his is basically resting on the table.
At least he leaned over the plate. That’s the other big rookie move people make, and then they end up with food all over their lap.
Are people misinterpreting your comment as a legit criticism of Obama? Or are they reading a tone where there isn't any? (Maybe the word "annoying" colored the rest of their perception? It's not how I read it, I'm trying to make sense of the downvotes.)
I thought you were providing your own regional informational tidbit (and a useful one for me, since I usually avoid hard-shelled tacos due to the mess I make.) This advice sounds helpful and I'll be trying it next time I order Tex-mex.
He calls that negotiation. That's why China ignores him. He doesn't have the actual authority to play that game since tariffs are to be voted by the Congress to be effective. Sooner or later his house of cards will scramble. He is relying on this false pretense of emergency to bypass the Congress for now to play his stupid negotiation game.
I don't understand how this can be predicated on an "emergency" of fentanyl being transported over the border when he is actively pardoning domestically incarcerated cartel members and escorting their families over the border and handing them green cards (for a $$$$ price).
The whole fentanyl story is bullshit and serves one purpose: ruling by executive orders.
In fact, there is more fentanyl crossing the border from the USA to Canada than the reverse. This administration is lying all the time to avoid power balance mechanisms of the Constitution.
Guess what? Fucking with the entire national (and, to an extent, global) economy isn’t usually a good way to negotiate. That’s why other presidents didn’t do it frequently. He’s a bull in a china shop, and even some of his supporters are sick of it.
