Nice catches. I remembered porn Liz after I posted. Totally forgot about staged reaction shot Liz and that Amy Pohler played her in the second live show.
Wait, are we just going to skip over 31 Rock? This is the first I'm hearing of it. I need waaaay more details. Is that 1 minute clip all that was ever made? Or did they actually make a full on show?
Because yes, I would totally believe they made at least one episode of this parody show. It's easy to believe when you can't believe this concept exists at all. So at that point, what barriers could POSSIBLY exist?
From reading a few articles, it seems the clip was simply a spoof, and no full episode was ever intended to be made. I gather that it exists for two reasons:
As a lighthearted jab at Fey, who (for the first time in eight years) had reprised her famous SNL role parodying Palin a week prior
More importantly, as marketing for Palin's new book that we hear Dotcom complimenting here
I think the whole 1 minute "trailer" is the whole thing. The article I found on it mentions the same things as the other comment, so that's probably right (promo for her book + jab at Fey).
I didn't even know it existed until I was sourcing images for this post, and the one of Palin as Liz was a thumbnail for a YT video, so of course I had to click on it and probably ruin the already terrible recommendations on the homepage 🤣
The worst part about it is....I didn't totally hate it.
You copy a range of cells from somewhere like Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice Calc, etc., then paste into this website, and it reformats it as a markdown table.
But myself, I am comfortable enough with markdown to just type it out manually directly into a Lemmy comment. Though for a markdown table that is relatively large (like the one above), I generally create it from scratch in a separate text editor program and then copy/paste it into Lemmy. A text editor is just a larger space to work in and has things like find/replace to make things go faster.
If you have any specific questions/problems, I am happy to help!
