Why does my Reddit account get insta-banned every single time I make a new account and post it?
Basically, a while back my Reddit account was banned out of the blue. Since then, every single new account I make gets banned instantly every single time I make a post. Not once, for the record, have they ever provided me an iota of a reason as to why I was banned in the first place. As far as I know, my account was just wiped off the face of the internet because someone felt like it. Since then, I’ve used VPNs, different computers, changed my IP to my internet, but every single time, the moment I post or comment the same exact thing happens. All of a sudden, my profile in the top right disappears and when I go to check in an incognito tab, it says that it’s been suspended.
Then, a few hours later, it will become permabanned. Then I’ll submit an appeal, and every single time they get back to me, they deny it, and the only reason they give is because “I broke the rules”. How on fucking earth am I ever supposed to use this platform again?
It's kinda bullshit though that I was banned out of nowhere, not given a reason whatsoever, and now they seriously just expect me to throw my hands up and never step foot on the platform again
I mean, yeah. Reddit is so big that they don’t give a shit whether you use the platform or not. They can continue falsely banning thousands of people each day because their user base is so big that those lost users wouldn’t even be a rounding error.
Stop patronizing places that don’t give a shit about you beyond how much they can sell your data for.
I don't know why you were banned, but they've been throwing bans around left and right, and damn near all of them have been bullshit. No real reasons given, no appeal responses, etc.
So, yeah, they seriously expect people to fuck off and never post or comment again. That's their goal, and they're leveraging every tool at their disposal to do so.
They want numbers, but numbers they can control. Anyone that's the tiniest bit off of the kind of user they want posting and commenting is a detriment to their actual goals. But, since there's plenty of them that will keep coming back anyway, they still get their ad revenue from whatever percentage of those that aren't using methods that bypass ads entirely.
You can keep trying, and maybe you'll find the right combination of things to bypass their fingerprinting methods. But you'll eventually get banned again and have to start over, while having refined their fingerprinting of you. Each time, it gets harder and harder to bypass.
Now, if that's how you roll, have at it! Fuck reddit. Anyone willing to jump through those hoops does cost them a teeny tiny amount of resources to maintain their bans. Added up over enough users, maybe they'd give up. But, it's all automated now, so the amount it costs doesn't go up far per user trying. So I don't believe they'll ever give up; I just don't want to say never ever.
Me? I use stealth for the very few things I can't find elsewhere. It's supposedly archived now, so there's no telling how long it'll keep working, but it is currently working. I have no need to post or comment there though.
But they want people trying. Because every new account artificially inflates user numbers. Oh, look at how many people are signing up! We're doing great!.
I swear, I wish the room that was disclosed in had been archived.
Anyway, my advise is to not log in at all, just use the revanced reddit app, stealth, oldreddit or whatever passively, and use lemmy/piefed/mbin for any discussions. A lot less hassle.
They might be using browser fingerprinting to tie you back to your banned account. Also, if you haven't cleared all cookies and data (local storage, cache, etc.), then they might be using that. Try waiting until you get a new IP from your ISP and then use a different browser. Don't use a VPN.
Guess I'm not the only one who randomly got banned for something stupid (cussing at a guy who threatened to grape and m**der women and men from our country respectively), my almost 4 year old account with 55K karma is permabanned and it's so hard to get a new account going lol
I tried to make a new account just to ask academic questions but nope, banned again.
There is something that works right now, but I'd rather not make it public knowledge or else the childish stupid fucking reddit admins will close that too somehow. Fuck reddit, I hope they get what they deserve (fun fact: I got a permaban once for literally saying these exact words: "I hope they get what they deserve" on a post about people abusing an innocent pedestrian, managed to overturn that permaban but not this one :/)
LoL yeah they took 5 hours to overturn that one, I was lowkey starting to appreciate the admins before those fuckers pulled this. I'm hoping reddit gets a genuinely decent competitor now, no competition means reddit ain't slowing down anytime soon
No replies anymore lol, they're just bullshitting people into thinking they actually give a shit atp, half the appeals and support tickets are just reviewed by ai or egoist admins who couldn't care less about the platform. I even saw an admin flexing about how many accounts he'd gotten banned on reddit before he got downvoted to hell and deleted his comment
some have been appealing for months. one of my last acct that was hit/flagged in feb, got shadowbanned last month, because a comment removal and sudden switch to a fork of FIREFOX caused them to "change my password and then became a shadowbanned"
VPN is an autoban by reddit, even if they catch you immediately, much like other SOCIAL media platforms doing the same. they want to know your location to sell your data. they go after more sophisticated proxies too, if they are overused though. i think the only ones that can evade them is the proxies that change ip frequently, combined with anti-detection browsers and new devices.
also creating new accounts if you were shadowbanned immediately they can detect your new accounts and shadowban it, they do it by using AI to look for the same patterns, same IP, DEVICE, BROWSER , and posting behaviour.
the only way is if you have a NEW IP, and DEVICE, and a different browser. then they look for your behaviour on the site: how long you are scrolling or randomly clicking to evade thier filters, your posting, upvotes, even your writing style.
