Because of restrictions where I live, I had to get an m1 platform and decided to go with the M1A. Figured I’d shop the look and get a 1911A1, but happened upon the Rock Island Armory GI 1911 for less than 300 bucks.
Will I get a 9 mm pistol? Probably. But I learned to stop worrying and love my inner Fudd. You should too.
I made my 1911 slightly more modern with an underbarrel 1913 rail. So far I've put a bipod on it for giggles, and a light on it for low light shooting. But it usually stays empty to fit in my favorite holster.
If I weren't afraid of damaging something I can't afford to get repaired, I'd strip the carbine down and do a thorough cleaning and lubrication, maybe restain the stock. It was my late grandfather's though, so I really don't want to damage it.
I have an older mini-30 that I'd say shoots about 5 inch groups at 100 yards. I'm pleased that it's relatively lightweight and 30 caliber but I'd like better accuracy.
