This is a stretch. I saw the video, and he just misspeaks by saying "country" instead of "company", but it's clear that he understands it'sa company. He says he'll place tariffs on their toys, not the "country of Mattel"
Back before the election, Trump spoke about the fictional character Hannibal Lecter, at least twice, like he was a real person. Trump was never cognitively there!
Before DJT had symptoms of his father's Alzheimer's, which is a decade since now since it has shown on TV, he was even back then, how he calls it, a low IQ individual. And a racist
As much as I’m not a fan of Trump, based on that snopes article and the context around what he said… it’s pretty obvious that he accidentally said country instead of something like company. He followed up with remarks that made it obvious he knew that it was a toy company.
If it were not for his mental decline, he would not have gained the populist support of so many uneducated or uninformed people. Back when Trump was young and sharp the average New Yorker couldn't stand him.
Years ago he was smart, fast, crooked, and completely devoid of ethics or morals. He has an instinct for self-preservation equaled only by New York City's most vicious, flesh-eating rats. Those traits were imparted by a ruthless father and honed by a cold-blooded mentor.
But time has the final word, and J. D. Vance is waiting in the wings like a pudgy undertaker with a bereaved expression on his face and a twinkle in his eye.
Hillary won the popular vote, so the "you're too misogynistic to elect a woman" take does not have a basis in reality. Also, you might have noticed that AOC is filling football stadiums in red states just by being willing to speak.
Kamala lost because people got poorer for four years under Biden and she very publicly affirmed she'd change nothing about his policies. Hell, she didn't even put a platform on her website until two weeks before the election. Kamala was a legitimately bad candidate.
Kamala lost because people got poorer for four years under Biden and she very publicly affirmed she'd change nothing about his policies.
Well I think the problem is people perceived others as getting poorer or worse off but the economy was humming just fine and unemployment reached record low numbers iirc.
Like, in general terms, people did not get poorer for four years under Biden - but if that's what people think, regardless of the actual truth, that's what they'll act on.
The GOP didn't update their platform since, like, 2015, unless you count Project 2025, which Trump claimed to know nothing about. In the 2020 election, it still referenced running against Obama.
I was with you until the end. People didn't get poorer under Biden, the Dems just did a terrible job of promoting the fact that our economy was literally the strongest in the world, and stronger than it had been in decades.
Kamala didn't lose for any other reason than the MAGA Nazis cheated in multiple ways, and EVERYONE knows it.
IF there is another election (I doubt it), the next Democratic candidate needs to run on six issues - Harsh punishment for HitlerPig and his henchmen, declaring MAGA a terrorist hate group and purging it from society, rebuilding the government back to its former glory, completely re-writing the tax code to favor workers and HEAVILY tax the wealthy, and Medicare 4 All.
Anyone who says that we have to run on something other than not being HitlerPig instantly loses my vote. Prosecuting and punishing HitlerPig is literally the only issue in front of us. Without that, America can never move forward. HitlerPig and MAGA must be crushed and purged mercilessly.
She also had a lot of whispering in her ear about how to run a campaign, including from Joe Biden who still thinks he would have won. That's also partly the reason she started stronger then diluted her platform.
This among many other reasons is why I want Kamala to leave the governorship of California well enough alone. I don't want her coming here and applying her Republican pandering to the state.
My brother in law, without skipping a beat: "obviously he meant Micronesia"
My reply, apparently not enough to get a response: "So you're okay with a president who's so cognitively vacant he can't tell the difference between two very different sounding words?"
These people are goners. Completely in lala land now. Trump could have an episode where he sits on stage digging into his diaper and eating his own shit and these people would go "Trump is a very smart man returning those nutrients to his body" and they'd all start eating their own shit too.
Don't you mean scooping his diaper since it's all liquid. I doubt he has a solid bowel movement since his cocaine abuse permanently damaged his intestines
What makes it sting is that when it was Biden or Obama misspeaking, the right wing troll farms and the entire corpoganda machine would have a great day with it. And god help them if they wore beige.
So yeah, I don't feel a need to play fair anymore. He asked for every whiff of smoke he's getting.
He needs to be judged harshly on everything he does. Everything.
Let's just imagine if Biden had said something like that. Or if Obama did it (whilst wearing a tan suit for extra fake rage). The us media would've been shouting about it and there'd be TV shows about it. Oppositional politicians would've been demanding impeach this and impeach that etc etc etc...
But, oh, it's tRUMP who may have misspoke? Oh, well, he's done much worse so let's give him a pass, shall we? How about this...NO.
That fat, dumb, racist, rapist, orange cunt gets no pass, ever.
It's the small passes over the years that have had no consequences for him that have allowed him to move to bigger and bigger stuff to the big horrible shit that he's doing now. And has been doing for decades.
No passes, just harsh criticism. That's all he deserves.
For anybody else in his position it would have been a pretty big deal. But because it is Trump and we know how he is with words (as in not at all), this is "nothing".
I kinda agree. I think the much bigger story would be the fact that he's threatening a singular company with a specific tariff of they don't do what he likes. I don't even think that's legal, especially without congressional approval tho I could be wrong. In any case if we start going down the road of picking and choosing which specific companies get to have tariffs or not we are going to fly so fast down the slippery slope of corruption my ass will break the sound barrier
I laughed the first time I heard a MAGAt talking about how bad Biden was at speaking. I seriously thought they were joking, because Trump's word salad is far worse than any stutter Biden ever uttered.
...they were not joking. They seriously believe Trump is some great orator.
I don't remember him saying things like "Mattel is a country". I remember him agreeing to do a debate while sick, which was stupid.
I think the difference between a very bad day and mentally impaired is a lot wider than you speculate.
That said I agree with you only because he DID step back from the race, and had he done that A LOT FUCKING EARLIER then Kamala might have been able to dodge the bus she got thrown under.
