Other possible surprising foods found to be eaten by Barred Owls:
-worms -spiders -weasels -fish -frogs -opossums -hawks -snails -slugs -ruffed grouse -salamanders
This study, comparing the diets of Barred vs Spotted Owls, showed Barred owls to eat up to 25% non-mammalian prey, while the Spotted only ate around 4% non-mammals.
It's the fishing part I didn't know about :D
