Why am I seeing political ads for Donald Trump in April of the year of his second inauguration?
To add context, the ads are on YouTube, I’m in North Carolina, they’ve mostly (all?) been regarding Medicare with a voiceover saying “He’s not going to cut Medicare or Medicaid” followed with him saying “None of that stuff is gonna be touched”
I can only imagine there’s some local elections or primaries that have his stink on it and some GOP candidate is trying to ‘roll down the windows’?
I haven’t seen a commercial in years, but what I can speak about is the random us flags. Is this for July 4th or is it to support Trump? My grocery store sells so many sizes now and they’re so cheap. It’s the cheapest thing they have.
Propaganda sinks in better if it's heard years in advance instead of 3 months before the election. It's easier to make people think other news sources are exaggerating if they've heard the opposite for months and months prior
Because we do not live in a Democracy with regular election seasons.
We live in a fascist oligarchy, which must constantly beam propoganda into the minds of its citizens.
...
Trump basically never stopped campaigning during the entirety of the Biden term, nor even for his fist term... despite being the President.
US political ad seasons are notorious for being ... way too long, up to a year... compared to most functional demcracies, where this ad season is often several weeks, not several, or many months.
Trump ratcheted this lengthy American political ad season into just literally all the time.
Before him, a sitting President running ads... during the middle of their own term... I think its literally unprecedented. Sure they'd give addresses and speeches to the public in extraordinary situations... but not run what amount to campaign ads... just all the time.
This is the power of money and media in the digital age.
Tell the lies often enough, and they become real to the enthralled. Literally right out of Goebbels playbook.
It truly now just is cult reaffirming propoganda, in the derogatory 1984/dictator sense of propoganda
Trump has stated many times he'll serve a third term. Told people they'd "never need to vote again." He fully plans on being President untill he dies.
this is the local representation hiding behind the orange dictators apron strings. they refuse to meet with their consituents to answer to their actions (or lack thereof), so theyre attempting to appeal to the hyper-maga crowd who are so brainwashed by fox news they believe this shit.
This is why. Republicans in Congress are planning to take "at least" $880 Billion over ten years out of Medicare and Medicaid to pay for extending tax cuts for the wealthy. There are also ads in the opposite direction raising alarm about this. They say they'll make the cuts without reducing benefits, and by that they generally mean they're going to pay doctors even less for caring for those patients.
This has ALWAYS been a key feature of fascist regimes throughout history: operating as if you're always running for election. Mussolini and Hitler both continued to hold big rallies even after they'd officially suspended voting. It's a big part of how they keep their base engaged.
They run TV ads in California where Kristi Noem talks about how great Trump is for deporting all of these people and how secure America is. Then pictures of CECOT prisoners arranged in little squares surrounded by guards proudly posed. It’s so odd.
