Huh, I had the reverse reaction--I heard about this 10+ years ago and I'm glad to finally be hearing something about it again, because it seemed like it had fallen off the planet for a while there. Human trials in the US is a huge leap forward.
Oh wild, my next thought was "now we just need someone to get that 'bionic' lens replacement thing I heard about around the same time and then never again," and I looked it up and there's a report from them from this month about an upcoming human trial. That's a lot worse than finding out the trials of the RISUG thing have been running for two years now, but it's still pretty exciting. Buddy they're in human trials with the FDA to bring a male pill to the market, and this startup is selling an injection. Idk what you're on about.
If you're not interested in children or finished having them, I highly recommend a vasectomy using modern techniques. It's a quick outpatient procedure with very small incisions. While all surgery carries risk, it is very low risk. Best $100 (with insurance) I ever spent.
My (now ex-) wife had a rough pregnancy, with our daughter ending up being born about 2 months premature. Her OB said that any future pregnancies would result in her being on bed rest after about 3 months. While we had originally wanted 2 kids, we made the decision that I should get snipped. Got it done on Thursday morning and spent the weekend playing video games with an ice pack on my nuts. One of the best decisions I've ever made.
