So sad to see such miserable people censoring in order to keep their moderation privileges in a random site on the internet.
How dare you trying to help the people. How dare you promoting a plattform:
- without adds
- with free speech
- that is decentralized
- that is open source
- without a company behind it
- with all the same features
- run by the people who use it
free speech how? I thought there were some limitations on legality since a lot of servers are from different countries and don't have the same laws
Free speech that the mods agree with that is. I was perma banned for c/Europe for privately objecting when a moderator removed this image I posted in a reply decrying antisemitic conspiracy theories in their forum. The mods left the libelous post up, and deleted my sarcastic, but otherwise civil response.
Maybe my opinion was wrong, but it certainly wasn't dangerous, hateful, threatening or intentionally misleading, as the original post was. Lemmy has a lot going for it, but let's not pretend that free speech on this site is anything other than window dressing. The Mods are still judge, jury and executioner inside their fiefdoms.
It just hasn't become a problem for the majority of users, because we're a relatively small, ideologically homogeneous community. If the fediverse ever becomes mainstream, you'll start seeing that freedom of speech disappear as moderators sort out the dissenters.
Luckily the one you wrote on https://www.reddit.com/r/BoycottUnitedStates/comments/1jrcrh6/lemmy_as_an_nonus_alternative_to_red_dit_using/ is still there :)
It would be a shame if somebody posted weekly reminders.
The mods might consider that "excessive promotion", they've already given @buyeuropean@feddit.org a warning when he posted https://buy-european.net/en, probably because it "competes" with their own website
The moment it becomes a competition, everyone lost. We should be cooperating. If they are saying it's competition, they are trying to gain something from it and should be avoided.
Everything is a commodity. Sucks.

So... Just change account names and start promoting mbin. It's a different word and the word search band can't find it. Don't say 'fediverse' - say 'federated servers' too to avoid that one.
