The YouTuber promised disappointed fans, who had spent $1,000 on 'The MrBeast Experience', a visit to his studio.
YouTuber MrBeast has issued an apology after his 'MrBeast Experience' at a Las Vegas resort did not live up to the billing.
The event at Resorts World Las Vegas was advertised as an "immersive" and "unforgettable" experience that included exclusive games, a MrBeast-themed menu and mystery bags thought to contain limited edition merch, including one with a $10,000 (£7,550) gift voucher.
Instead, the guests camped out in their hotel rooms waiting days for their bags to arrive. And when they did, the guests were underwhelmed.
"I was told to wait in my room for two days for a package to come, so I legit spent two days in my room for a package to come, and it was a box of chocolates," Ms Metta said.
Several users said on social media that they received T-shirts in different sizes, which could be purchased for $9 (£7) online.
there's no way this dude hasn't hired a PR firm and management consultants. this is just the brand image he has now. remember that this dude used to make videos like counting to a thousand.
dude got a firm to tell him he's Willy Wonka and now he has another firm sculpting that image for him behind the scenes. Mr beast and his crew are just the front end operations that can't manage to stop fucking up on their own right.
The ghost kitchen venture and the chocolate venture were handled by external companies certainly It was just one of those slap your name on this thing.
But look deeper into the mismanagement of the events and the videos. Especially the last couple Vegas stints. Any event company would have had the first responders properly lined up and dangers managed. Especially in Vegas they do this kind of shit all the time.
Every single off the wall of event that he stages is just poorly managed. When people start asking questions and pointing fingers it ends up with him and his actual crew. There aren't any adults in the room.
if you go to these or you let your children go, you deserve to get scammed, which is probably also Donaldson's point of view. No respect for that guy btw, but I doubt he has little of it for himself either.
Exactly. Paying 1000 dollars to see some scripted asshole is not how I would like to live. If was rich and had dumb kids that idolized him I would disable their internet access.
Mr Beast is the quintessential example of someone who defines themselves by their unfathomable success, attributing it to their unique work-ethic and dedication, and then collapses under the weight of their impossibly large ego
We've already reached the point where only billionaires or celebrities can be candidates, extra points if they're both. Kim Kardashian stands a better chance of being the first woman president over Harris, AOC, Warren, or any other qualified woman.
That's the only possible upside to the nation sinking into a dictatorship, at least we'll never have a duly elected President Beast... Silver linings and whatnot.
I can't tell if he's super stoned in this pic or if he just looks that soulless all the time. However, I lean towards the latter given his circumstances.
Oh, just a disappointing LV attraction. I was hoping for some Charlie Sheen level winning here. I could have used a good celebrity melt down this week.
Does this weirdo have like one photo where he looks like he's smiling for real, is he incapable of feeling joy or something. He definately seems like he's on the spectrum when he talks, don't know if that's a contributing factor
As I recall, he’s spent the last several years sanding down his whole personality as much as possible so as to become as inoffensive as possible so he can cast the widest possible net for an audience.
He never figured out how to fake a smile. He knows a smile means moving the corners of the mputh up and showing some teeth, but his eyes remain dead and uncaring.
Thing is this isn't the first time. He did more challenges with awards but once the video was done he took up and left off. Smiling to the bank with that uncanny valley expression.
He’s not sorry for anything honestly. He will continue to do bs like because of this fans. It maybe funny and cringe now but it will be interesting if he tries to run for office or alines with a political party. “ hey guys I just bought an election!”
I hate influencers too so I get it, but I figure its mostly kids and young adults who grew up watching him, so I put the blame more on the systems and communities they grew up in.
Those kids should have been protected by say.. A strong consumer protections board, or parents controlling their screen time & curating their viewing, government banning phones at school, or outright banning social media for kids, or a quality education teaching them media literacy - but all of those things are demonized as bad things that those socialist European countries have.
I believe it. A really good liar is hard to beat. Growing up, my mother was a narcissistic psychopath, and that turned me into the most elaborate, sensical liar. I don't generally use it for evil, but I've gotten myself out of so many problems by navigating hairy situations on the seat of my pants. I hate how my childhood was but I appreciate the skill I gained from them, it'll serve me well when shit really hits the fan.
Replying to a fan's complaint on X, Donaldson admitted it "definitely isn't the experience we hoped they'd deliver" and promised to make it up by inviting everyone affected to his studio.
I feel like this could have been on purpose. If it wasn't he would have offered refunds.
I doubt it. Inviting to the studio is probably way cheaper - not everyone will do it since people would have to travel, and even when they come, there's not much cost to a quick tour or whatever.
The issue is in the text. "We hoped they'd deliver." This wasn't a Mr Beast project, it's something someone paid to slap his name and branding on and they did what people who usually do this stuff do. Hoped the branding would carry them and made an experience for as cheap as possible hoping to take in the cash.
I'm not saying Mr Beast is a good dude, but the stuff that he is actually personally involved in seems to at least have effort, even if it isn't good. This was definitely a "we want to do a show we will pay you so we can call it the Mr Beast whatever." His team said fine and he let them do whatever, and this third party squeezed money out of it and bungled it.
Travelling to Vegas and staying in a hotel there are actually both pretty cheap. The hotels want you to stay in their hotel so you'll gamble in their casino and not someone else's.
This is the type of ghing that he shouldn't need to appologize for. The appology does no good. An appology is for if you said something that could be misinterpreted, or you made a bad choice thinking it would play out differently.
This is just an intentionally poorly planned event. They wait in their hotel room for 2 days. Then they get chocolates. In no scenario does that play out differently. Those bags will always contain chocolates if you plan for them to contain chocolates.
So what's the appology? "I'm sorry I ripped you off"?
Also, $9 T-Shirts? I'm confident that if I go into Walmart, their cheapest T-Shirt is $20. So how low quality are these T-Shirts??? Especially since I assume they also have some branded print screening on them.
I agree with most of what you said, but you are severely overestimating the cost of t-shirts at Walmart. They start at $4 for plain or $7 for graphic tees from what I can tell. Even band tees and things like Mickey Mouse are in the $9–14 range based on a cursory glance on their site.
Gildan brand (cheap) tshirts with a screen print, are definitely closer to 9-15 dollars, any time a merch place is selling those rough uncomfortable shirts for like $30 I just have to laugh at the people who buy them.
