It's hypocrit. They don't want to be in the EU because they are "so called neutral", but now the suddenly are using the EU logo because it suits them.
Don't get me wrong: I would like to have SUI into the EU, but then they have to go for the full package and not illegaly clame they are EU, while the're not.
This is about a swiss supermarket promoting a german product.
The "Swiss company" in the title is the supermarket, the european label is for a german product. It's not about a swiss company putting the "made in europe" label on their own products.
The title is misleading. "Some Swiss companies are using the Europe label."
Yes, Switzerland is part of Europe, but not part of the EU. But... you're welcome to join the EU as a full member.
It would probably be better if they joined the EU. They could stop being an endless drain on the EU economy by being a tax paradise stationed right in the middle.
Having other "special interests" like Malta and Cyprus in the EU is a luxury we cannot afford, imho, especially given the support all of these countries show for Russian interests.
When Switzerland would join the EU and UK maybe aswell the EU would get stronger. Furthermore would it be a huge example for the world if Switzerland, the "neutral/independent" country would join the EU.
Besides population refusal (every thing country side votes no), there’s not even a start of a political will to do it. Being well integrated and friendly in the middle but not member seems to be enough for everyone.
And on the political side we still have old Swiss-German fucks pushing for non EU stuff. The best example is the F-35. France with the excellent Rafale 4.5 gave us access to their military airspace, their supersonic range that crosses the country towards the Atlantic, airbases, full integration into the FAF training, overall they would been best mate and neighbour. Hell, they would have even authorized some carrier action around the CDG after a while if Swiss pilots proved themselves capable.
But they chose the F-35 and just a few days ago they again said that F-35 is the better aircraft, that prices won’t be crazy and that we won’t get fucked by the US. Like seriously 🤦🏻
The good thing is that we can always organize a vote to force their hand (which will probably happen) but it takes some time and effort. But even if we manage to make them switch side there’s a huge chance that France won’t be as friendly this time, with a good reason.
A vote for EU will end up the same tho, a majority of "oui" losing in front of a bigger majority of "nein".
