The Ghost of Dawn

From The Pygmy Owl Tour

The Ghost of Dawn: Barn Owl at Shoreline

For months, she ruled the early morning skies-this Barn Owl, silent and stunning, gliding effortlessly above the shoreline as the sun crept up. I saw her often in those first quiet hours, hunting with precision, her talons ready to strike, her flight completely soundless.

But lately... it's been different.

She's still out there, but not always. It's a hit or miss now. Maybe she's grown wiser, more selective with her efforts. Or maybe age is catching up to her. Either way, when she does appear, it feels like a gift-more rare, more meaningful.

That moment when she sweeps by in silence? Still gives me chills.

Here's to the wild ones who teach us patience-and to being out there when they decide to show up.

Lurkers and passers-by, we need your support! Help us with the LemmySilver charity giveaway. Just reply with "!LemmySilver" to vote for us, and the prize will go to the care and rehab of wild owls.
