I would prefer this over McDonald's trash any day of the week. Apples, watermelon, bananas, kiwis? This isn't like raw broccoli or something, it's all fresh delicious fruit.
If you are less than about 20 the bitter flavor is too prominent for most people. Same reason younger folks don't like unsweetened black coffee. It takes a while to grow out of the sensitivity to bitter flavors we are born with.
Is it true or just a stereotype? My kids love fruit. We go through probably 6kg of fruit a week, half of that is bananas and the rest is a mix of all sorts.
They obviously love candy too but they don't complain about fruit.
Vegetables on the other hand... Fiber without (much) sugar is offensive.
I suppose it depends on the kid. Fruit seemed like a punishment to me when I was younger, and then when I got older I wondered how I could have been so ridiculous.
Maybe I disliked it because "the man" wanted me to eat it because it was healthy. Maybe the rebellious kids are the ones who hated fruit, but not because of the taste.
I know those feels. The acids in apple juice used to wreck my stomach. Couldn’t drink it. OJ was iffy. No idea why. Regular fruit was fine, though. Try a self experiment and take a small antacid like tums beforehand and see if it helps?
I wouldn't want to rely on antacids since taking those regularly can cause problems. I generally eat something like bread or nuts and then I'm all set to take on fruits. Some fruits are better than others, since I can eat bananas on an empty stomach just fine. Either way it's nothing major, usually mild discomfort if I eat apples on an empty stomach but maybe I'm eating too many or they're too sour or something.
Grains work well for me, but yeah, fats, as long as it's not too much, generally work out better for me than raw fruits and veggies on an empty stomach.
