I've got just the place for low-cost housing. I have solved this problem. I know where we can build housing for the homeless: golf courses! It's perfect! Just what we need. Plenty of good land, in nice neighborhoods, land that is currently being wasted on a meaningless, mindless activity engaged in primarily by white, well-to-do male businessmen who use the game to get together to make deals to carve this country up a little finer amongst themselves. I am getting tired, really getting tired, of these golfing cocksuckers in their green pants, and their yellow pants, and their orange pants, and their precious little hats and their cute little golf carts! It is time to reclaim the golf courses from the wealthy and turn them over to the homeless! Golfing is a arrogant, elitist game which takes up entirely too much room in this country. Too much room' in this country! It is an arrogant game on its very design alone, just the design of the game speaks of arrogance. Think of how big a golf course is - the ball is that fucking big! What do these pin-headed pricks need with all that land?! There are over seventeen thousand golf courses in America, they average over one hundred and fifty acres a piece - that's three million plus acres, four thousand, eight hundred and twenty square miles - you could build two Rhode Islands and a Delaware for the homeless on the land currently being wasted on this meaningless, mindless, arrogant, elitist, racist, there's another thing; the only blacks you'll find at country clubs are carrying trays. And a boring game. A boring game for boring people. You ever watch golf on television? It's like watching flies fuck! And a mindless game, mindless. Think of the intellect it must take, to draw pleasure from this activity: hitting a ball with a crooked stick and then, walking after it! And then, hitting it again! I say pick it up asshole, you're lucky you found the fucking thing! Put it in your pocket and go home, you're a winner! You've found it! No chance of that happening. Dork-o in the plaid knickers is going to hit it again and walk some more. Let these rich cocksuckers play miniature golf! Let them fuck with a windmill for an hour and a half or so! See if there's any real skill among these people. Now I know there are some people who play golf who don't consider themselves rich. FUCK 'EM! I don't play golf but I know people that do and I can assure you none of them are even remotely rich (although most are white men)

The problems we have with housing shortages and climate change won't be solved even if you get rid of every golf course in America.
- Living in a city without enough housing and seeing golf courses that are unused most of the hours of the day taking up huge swaths of land in the middle of my city feels like a “fuck you” to the poors.

...and even these states do not claim to have achieved communism in their countries but are supposedly building and working toward its establishment.

  So this all really boils down to some people saying we can all level the field so everyone is equal and have the same opportunities, and the dudes who know they can never feel equal to others raging against the very notion because they are really, really insecure about but obsessed with the dicks of other men.
  
  As a result you have the suffering of billions of people. I wish I could make it make sense.

Can we make golf less bad? Like, public courses, make it so that the grass isn't some perfect standard import grass. Make it local even if it's "less than ideal" for the game. Desert courses with no grass. I dunno

"good" courses exist. They are just quite rare

In my area there are at least 2 courses that have very reasonable member fees (not more than other sports clubs) where things like golf clubs and balls renting is included if you need them. Plus all kinds of free weekends

They are also not targeted to rich snobs. So you can actually meet people there without being looked down upon

As for the course itself: they are located in area that are not really suitable for things like apartment development etc. And they take care of the more wild parts of nature (making sure that some area are completely off limits during nesting season due example)

Does it have an impact compared to it not being there? Sure. But they do a lot for the surrounding, and it gets people into nature that otherwise probably wouldn't

All the courses in the middle of cities or climates that don't naturally support a course can go fuck themselves, though
My hometown has a public mini golf course. It scales really well, and it coexists with a forest.
Just leave sheep out to maintain the course. Isn't that how it was originally?

They recently closed a course near me and now they've stripped out all the trees and are building a 300 acre development of McMansions. The course was also a home to deer and wild turkey, several stands of nice old hardwoods, some ponds with ducks and geese. Be careful what you wish for.

I'd be okay with that. Golf courses offend me. So much land wasted that could be put to better uses...like landfills, or cemeteries for the indigent, or nuclear waste storage. (Or housing, or growing food.)

Is it possible that is just conservative shitposting? Even our most of our extreme lefties understand irony and have a bit of self-awareness making inside jokes similar to this. We've also seen conservatives "eat the onion" enough on joke memes. We should consider that we may be on the other end the joke on this one not thinking they're serious with this meme.

A lot of people are really, really fucking naive how stupid the bulk of the population is. And how there is always a segment even less cognitive.

And I get it, you don't want to believe how bad it is. The brain protects you from cognitive hazards. When I realized it well into adulthood I wept, I despaired because I finally understood just how bad it really is. I can't describe it, you have to go on this journey yourself, and I feel bad for you if you find it, because it's one of the blackest pills to swallow.
They're right. Golf is a fucked up sport based on extreme privilege and land theft. There are many many reasons why the land should be repurposed.

  Thats my point. Its so far down the list, you'd have to find leftist extremists that would put it at the top of their list. The meme is painting it that its a mainstream left issue where it isn't, and I think the conservatives that made it know that too and that could be their joke. As in, there's a kernel of truth to it, but only that. Without the kernel of truth the joke wouldn't be funny.
