Uh, they put sublime under happy because it's Ska-like. I don't think whoever made this chart ever listened to any of the words.
What I got is arguably their happiest song, and it's painfully obvious it's a depressed person reminding himself that life can be enjoyed, is worth living, even when everything is shit.
21 0 ReplySmashing pumpkins in the happy half???
87 0 ReplyWhile there's a lot of disagreement on where bands belong, I think Rage Against the Machine as the pinnacle of Angry Music is one we can all agree with.
49 0 ReplyThe amount of comments saying "ANGRY AND HORNY IS A THING!" has me a little worried about y'all.
28 0 ReplyGreat chart. RHCP is so much hornier than Weezer though.
55 0 ReplyI’m assuming every ska band is so far off the left edge we can’t see them.
46 0 ReplyIs there a way to put NIN into both extremes of Angry and Horny?
21 0 ReplyWouldn't Deftones be in the horny section?
45 0 ReplySomeone has never listened to No Doubt or NIN.
38 0 ReplySo you can’t be Angry and Horny?!?!
34 0 Reply"I focus on the pain...the only thing that's real" super horny.
12 0 ReplyThe entire chart is wrong. There's no "happy" alignment at all in 90's bands.
11 0 ReplyDeftones are way hornier than that, most of their songs are about fucking
11 0 Replythe NIN position , is not making any sense
7 0 Replycan't be angry and horny at the same time, that's discriminatory to incel music /s
30 0 ReplyThis otherwise insightful chart suffers from the lack of NOFX.
19 0 ReplyWhy can't you be angry and horny?
5 0 Replythe offspring is definetly not sad, nirvana should be sadder, blink is absolutely much hornier... this chart is all over the place.
6 0 Replyno counting crows
They missed the saddest band
8 0 ReplyNo Doubt on the happy side? Have you listened to the lyrics?
11 0 Reply90s NIN was very angry... then Trent went weird.
12 0 ReplyI disapprove of the idea that angry and horny are opposites.
11 0 ReplyThis explains why I never liked Foo Fighters.
10 0 ReplyIt's one problem that both angry and sad are opposed to happy, at least for me. While the opposite to horny is frigid, and in my experience, depressed.
7 0 ReplyOMG. I'm not the only who hasn't forgotten about Eels.
15 0 ReplyOnly ones I've ever heard are Radiohead and Rage against the Machine.
Sincerely, genZAnyway are yall telling me there are no bands that are both horny and angry?
Edit:
I was probably wrong about Radiohead. Maybe I mixed them up with radioactive by imagine dragons?14 0 ReplyI doubt that the person who did this chart ever listened to Morphine. Imho they sound like right out of a funeral.
10 0 ReplyNo Primus?
7 0 ReplyThis must be a joke
14 0 ReplyThere needs to be an Optimistic <---> Bleak axis too
12 0 ReplyNIN should be all over the place.
16 0 ReplyNo Ween?? No Mr. Bungle???
16 0 ReplyNo Korn?
15 0 ReplyAngry vs horny as a single axis....
NIN seems to have an angry tone. March of pigs, wish, hand that feeds, head like a hole. There is one sad balad as a cover. There is one horny lyric song, that also happens to be on the happier than sad side.
13 0 ReplyPulp needs to move up a bit. If you don't think they do angry you have not been paying attention
10 0 ReplyNeeds more Ska Bands.
13 0 ReplySublime should definitely be more towards center, unless you've never even tried to listen to the lyrics.
12 0 ReplyI would but deftones in horny tbh. Especially on the Queen of the Damned soundtrack. Everyone was horny on that soundtrack.
3 0 ReplySurprised to not see Sugar Ray or Everclear, unless I'm blind.
11 0 ReplyJust go here.
3 0 ReplyMissing queens of the stone age in the bottom right.
Or left.
6 0 ReplyI wonder where Linkin Park would fit
3 0 ReplyNIN is off the chart somewhere far beyond the upper right corner.
10 0 ReplyWhere would They Might Be Giants and Barenaked Ladies be on this? BNL, despite the name, isn't horny.
6 0 ReplyThe Offspring just pingpong all over the fucking place really.
7 0 ReplyNine Inch Nails isn't nearly that horny. Hell, even Closer is angrier than it is horny.
9 0 ReplyThe Cranberries are way hornier than that.
9 0 ReplyBeautiful work OP and I love the discussion and debate it brought about .... excellent!
8 0 ReplyI was about to make a comment about how blatantly stupid this chart is leaving out many bands (Nirvana, Tool, Pantera, etc) and getting alignments completely fucked up (NIN, No Doubt, L7....). Then I looked at the community it was posted in.
Well played @ickplant@lemmy.world. Well played. 👏🏻
5 0 ReplyHmm. Missing Everclear.
5 0 ReplyNo Doubt got my teenage brain horny
4 0 ReplyGreen Day was peak sad and horny.
7 0 ReplyTitle: 90s bands
My brain: Morbid Angel, Obituary, Sepultura, Corrosion of Conformity, Eyehategod, Dissection, among others.
7 0 ReplySo like, is Ween not on here because they're off the charts horny?
2 0 ReplySomeone explain the sarcasm belt to me and why Radiohead is sad sarcastic
7 0 ReplyKind of curious where KMFDM would fit. I would think top for sure. But i feel like most of their songs would make them swing left and right like a metronome. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ3lsxONdiw
7 0 ReplyI miss Chris Cornell. He was all of those emotions all at once.
2 0 ReplyIf Dave Matthews was on this list it would just replace the word Horny.
3 0 ReplyBush? ... don't you mean Bush X
Lol ... Canadian here asking
6 0 ReplyWhere’d the motherfuckin Ween go at
5 0 ReplyType-O-Negative had its most popular moments in the 90's. I think the placement would be quite horny and fairly sad. (If it were Carnivore and the 80's, the scale would implode because it doesn't accommodate very angry but really horny.)
3 0 ReplyBad Religion, for the endless ranting raging. Suffer is an epic album. fuckin 1982 for real.
if you get tired of that rather repetitive business, switch to Husker Du
break all the fuckin rules and go to hell with superman
3 0 ReplySad music is the best. Deftones are way more horny than angry.
5 0 ReplyCan I get an explanation of what it feels like to be happy and angry?
5 0 ReplyMorphine should be as far to the right as they are to the left. Not sure what the original creator of the chart was thinking.
5 0 ReplyI may not fully agree with your chart, but i love the effort that went into this
5 0 ReplyGlad to see Blur blurring the line
4 0 ReplyBlink-182 veered wildly to the right towards 2012. They're mostly back on the left again now, though.
2 0 ReplyI would say rather than Angry Sad, that Deftones is Angry Horny with songs like Knife Party, Change In The House Of Flies, Digital Bath etc. but the chart puts them opposing 🤷
1 0 ReplyI'm just glad Veruca Salt made the list.
Also, I dunno if I'd lump Sublime into the "happy/horny" category. They're more on the "sad/horny" side of the chart.
