Nearly all of the institute’s U.S.-based staff members were fired and asked to sign a separation agreement, according to notices reviewed by The Times.

Two types of people here will get upset. Those who are invested in what it did and those who think that name describes what it did.
- There's a third type: those who think that the President should be bound by law and constition.
  
  This happens to be a nonprofit, which while funded by congress, has some level of independence. The President isn't supposed to be able to shut it down like this, and it took coercing the guards's boss and having cops break into their offices to get to this point.
  
  The fall of the institute should not be used as a poster child for your valid complaints.
  
  There are hundreds of other things that have been done in the last weeks, that fall under your observations, that are worthy of mourning.
