Sneaking Out for Snakey Snacks
Sneaking Out for Snakey Snacks
From Dennis Prysner
Near sunset last night, while trying to get a few more shots of the Great Horned Owlets I saw on the weekend, I walked around a bit to stretch my legs and came across this beautiful Barred Owl. He/she was snoozing for a while and then flew off and returned to the area a few minutes later with a small snake and after swallowing it, came to rest on this mossy branch, I was very lucky!

Time to plug !snakes@lemmy.world (I do not mod it) for those of us who feel bad for that snake :(
I also enjoy snakes. I will share one of my favorites over there as compensation.
For an animal like an owl that can't chew, sadly a snake seems an ideal food once the danger is removed from the danger noodle.
and meanwhile, bunnies seem to be food for snakes and falcons sometimes… liking both animals in a predator-prey relationship is an experience
