I think they started that journey long time ago when they started using open street maps for the rest of the world. I think they have the best styling of the maps. That said I am using Organic Maps, because they are open source. But many friends of mine, that are not from Czech republic already use mapy.cz for quite some time :)
They recently made multi-country offline maps a premium feature. I'm moving away from them. Not to mention my personal grudge over that gorge in Romania.
What does mapy replace US app wise pls? Is it too obvious to say Google maps?

Indeed. Yet, at least to me, it's informative nonetheless... just around 2 weeks ago I noticed that mapy.cz was no longer available and it really saddened me because it was the only alternative and serious contender to Google (...other than OSM, of course.)
That letter and colour scheme just has me thinking Luigi.
