As I point out over and over, it's all actually clear evidence of the simple fact that he's profoundly mentally ill.
By any objective standard, the man is a raving lunatic, and deeply emotionally disturbed. He not only shouldn't be president - he shouldn't even be allowed out on his own. He needs extensive mental health care, or barring that, he needs to be kept away from any opportunity to do harm, because he self-evidently is incapable of moderating his own behavior into anything even vaguely approaching healthy.
And the most insane and incomprehensible part of this timeline, to me, is that there are so many people who apparently can't see that, when it's so bludgeoningly obvious, or who can see it but pretend that they don't.
If I didn't know better, I'd assume that somebody went out and found a smelly old derelict locked in an argument with God in a dirty alley somewhere, gave him a shave, a suit and a layer of bronzer, and made him president.
You should look up Graydon Carter. But the tldr version, he's a reporter who commented on Trumps baby hands, mentioned it waaaaay back in 1988, Trump would send him photos or pictures of his hands from magazines....for almost 30 years.
If history has taught us anything, it's that appeasing Nazis always results in them becoming quietly content and leaving everyone alone to live their lives in peace.
It's worth keeping in mind that the people who made this decision at Columbia are, themselves, wealthy. They are behaving as wealthy people do--they only respond to power, they only care about power, and they will do ANYTHING to maintain power.
It's never about non-monetary things with wealthy people. They don't care about other people, even each other, or about high-falutin' things like academic freedom or free inquiry or free speech because unless those things bring them more power, more money.
They will sacrifice everything, anything, and anyone to maintain their status and they will ALWAYS bend the knee to anyone with more power, more capital, than they have. They have no investment otherwise. You can't keep your power if you have any focus other than your own power.
Nothing run by wealthy people is ever safe for the rest of us.
One place that there's still a lot of defiance is from lawyers and judges. There's still scary stories there about attorney intimidation and even surrender, but courts are often winning against him. Brian Cohen recently interviewed Marc Elias who resolved not to cater to threats, and even Chief Justice Roberts gave a warning to Trump over his attempts to use bullying instead of normal appellate process.
