Illinois votes on a new state flag design — and chooses the current one
The Illinois state flag is sometimes derided as an “SOB” — a state “Seal on a Bedsheet.” The white banner emblazoned with the state's eagle-themed emblem was adopted in 1915, so forward-looking lawmakers adopted a law creating a contest for a new one.
I like this one even if it goes against vexiological principles of flag design.
I don't know enough about flag design to see why this flag is a problem. It's fantastic.
I liked the one with the butterfly, personally.

Could be worse. You could vote on a new flag and the winner could be redesigned anyway. See: Minnesota.
Second one looks really good, first one could be a nice meme template.
Did you read the explanation for the third one? It is awesome but would be impossible for citizens to produce freehand (is that even done nowadays? Even in schools?)
None of the other options were all that great to be honest
