James Dennehy, the assistant director in charge of FBI's largest field office, was told Friday to turn in his retirement papers.
Well that's rather concerning about the future rule of law, and the ability of the FBI to conduct investigations without political interference...

I think you misunderstood. He wasn't defending the January 6th terrorists, he was defending the FBI agents who were investigating them.
