"You know how a popular time travel question is, if you could go back and kill Hitler, would you? People are going to be asking the same about Trump and Musk (and Vance and Thiel and a whole mess of others) if the dust ever settles."
There's no need to go around making actionable threats of violence that could be read out in a courtroom, that's called fedposting. Try this on for size:
If the right keeps pushing, eventually someone's probably going to feel like their back's against the wall with no other recourse. For example, if there was, say, a national abortion ban, I wouldn't be surprised if someone tried to kill the people responsible. Tragic, really, but that's just the world we live in. Look, I want to do things peacefully, but if I can't produce results that way, well, it's not about me, it's about what's going to happen if other people lose confidence in my methods.
A prediction isn't a threat. I'm allowed to speculate about other people doing stuff, aren't I? Some historical orgs spoke that way, and their predictions could be eerily accurate.
Donald Trump and Elon Musk should be assassinated ☺️ 😍 😋 🤪 😇
Wow, just being able to say that when inciting violence is banned on most other social media felt empowering. I know to y'all this probably comes off as just another basic one-liner comment, but.. I've only recently started using Lemmy when I used to just browse Reddit without an account. There were times when I almost felt crazy, because I felt so much rage against these rapist scum I thought- given the opportunity- I would end their lives in an instant, consequences be damned. But on Reddit where any talk of violence (against the state) is banned (but violence via political persecution of minorities is A-OK!), I thought I was just a radical extremist.
And maybe I am a radical extremist, Lemmy as a whole is certainly small enough to be an echo chamber, but in a time where peaceful protest does nothing but paint a target on your back, free speech by necessity needs to include ushering people to make use of "the 4th box of liberty," the cartridge box. By god does it feel good to finally be able to say that.
It didn't take me long to realize blocking that instance was a good idea. I didn't know about lemmygrad and hexbear (which federated) until someone from lemmy.world pointed out another user was "brigading", and looking up how lemmy.world eventually blocked that instance the feeling I have towards lemmy.world is that they act like the "world police" of the lemmy-verse.
I unsubbed from everything over there except for Working Class Calendar and Work Reform. Normies that are still normies in 2025 making me irrationally angry.
you shouldnt judge someone based on the instance they choose to moderate on thats just as bad as judging someone for their sexual orientation and if you want to see change you should become a lemmy world mod and be the change you want to see
Could be worse. Try saying anything critical about Putin to the admins of .ml. Instant ban from like, 20 different communities.
And for that matter, just politely disagree with the hive and see how fast you get Rule 1’d.
Not in anyone’s defense, but I’m pretty certain I read that .world is hosted in the Netherlands and are subject to the laws there. Suggesting harm on others is against the laws there or something.
.ml has no excuse for their authoritarian bullshit.
Here's the thing though, what good does it do? Get angry and talk about all of the things that are horrific and are Nazi like. People will do what they do with the information they have.
