Even though that piece of information can be verified by other credible sources (like NBC News). This is a news post they personally didn't like.
This is not the first time this particular mod, who has self-proclaimed to "hate biggotry" but seems to be more about "love censorship", has done something similar.
They seems bothered by the source of the article, not the content. I know you reposted it from NBC and that's still up, from which site did you post the article when it was taken down?
I didn't post the original, but it seemed fine to me:
that’s still up
That remains to be seen, I've posted it after I posted the info here, so only a few minutes.
I had nothing to do with the original post, except that I added some comments on the post and saw the same mod show their disagreements by continuing the discussion in a modlog note thus making it impossible for me to reply.
You did kinda go off on an anti religious rant in the comments which is kinda weird, but I don't think it's power tripping as long as the NBC article stays up.
Edit: Seems I knew about !globalnews@lemmy.zip as I'm already subscribed but that community is empty. So probably some federation issues, or is it really empty?
Edit 2: Nevermind, I always forget I can check the community at its origin server.
I wonder if it was the same mod who decided to remove my Kim Jong-un Bans Hotdogs post (just checked on mbin, it wasn't). In that case it wasn't "low credibility score" but just "rule 3". I was able to get it restored by contacting a mod who was active and who was surprisingly chill about it, but if it's getting removed because they don't like it, they already achieved their goal by removing it's visibility while it was getting traction. At least you got it back up in a new thread.
Incidentally, how do you know who did it? Activity? Setting up your own custom instance to bypass the censorship? There may be a bad actor, although in their defense, there is plenty of brigading regarding certain articles trying to get mods to succumb with whatever mud sticks.
I'm an admin of my instance, I can see the names in my modlog. Or I could see them in the database directly.
I don't think they're a bad actor, they're just so anti-bad-stuff they accidentally went a little to the bad-stuff territory themselves. Kind of like a clueless tankie.
Edit: If you send me the post link, I can try checking if it's the same mod.
I just saw that the names show up on mbin, another thing it does right. After checking, I see that it isn't the same mod account. Thanks for the offer though.
