It was all a part of trying to look more masculine and trustworthy is a landscape dominated by white men. She also used, and I kid you not, voice changing software to make her voice deeper.
Of course this all didn't help that there wasn't a single trustworthy fiber in her being. It was all smoke and mirrors.
In case it's any consolation, I came here to say largely the same thing, except that I was going to say I liked the poster's name.
